USBC to new app Transition FAQ

*Dates in this document are subject to change. The latest dates will always be reflected in this document.

Why is the USBC app closing?

USBC was our pilot app. We're now piloting our new flagship app working towards a public release later in the year. If you have a Vast Bank Pilot deposit account it will be discontinued after pending activity is resolved and your remaining balance is distributed. See Key Dates below. Our new app is entirely separate and your data will not be carried over from the USBC app.

When is this happening?

USBC money movement and card use will be frozen at 3:00 PM PT on Thursday, August 13. Crypto and URT will be closed down at the same time as the USBC app at 3:00 PM PT on Thursday, August 20.

Further details for your USBC Vast Bank Pilot account and card use are given below.

Will I lose access to the USBC app?

Yes. The USBC app will be locked at 3:00 PM PT on Thursday, August 20 and removed from the app store once the new app is live.

Will my data carry over to the new app?

No. Your USBC identity, funds, data, contacts, vouches, and messages will not transfer to the new app. You'll be starting again when you set up.

Your USBC

What happens to my USBC account balance?

Vast will begin processing the return of eligible remaining deposit balances after the August 13 cut off and after applicable pending activity has been accounted for.

The time for funds to appear may vary based on ACH processing, the receiving financial institution, and whether the transfer is returned or requires correction.

If an ACH transfer cannot be completed or the customer does not have a verified external bank account, Vast will work with the customer to arrange another available Bank-approved payment method.

You will not be required to open an account in the new app to receive an existing Vast deposit balance.

Is there a fee for this transfer?

There is no fee for this transfer.

When will my deposit-account close

Your Vast Bank Pilot deposit account will be closed after pending transactions, holds, refunds, returns, and adjustments have been resolved and the remaining balance has been distributed.

When will my balance be distributed?

Vast will begin processing the return of eligible remaining deposit balances after the August 13 cutoff and after applicable pending activity has been accounted for.

The time required for the funds to appear in your external account may depend on ACH processing and the receiving financial institution. If the transfer cannot be completed, we will contact you regarding another available payment method.

When will I see the money in my bank account?

After money movement and card transactions are stopped, previously authorized transactions, holds, refunds, returns, and adjustments may continue to process. ACH transfers generally settle within one to two business days, but returned transfers, merchant refunds, card transactions, or disputes may require additional time.

Please reach out to customer service for any disputes after the card is terminated within the resolution timeframes as stated in the disclosures.

What happens if I don’t see money in my bank account?

Please contact customer service on the contact details given below. Have your USBC name handy and your mobile phone number.

Your data

What happens to my USBC data after the app closes?

After direct access to the USBC app ends, you can request available Vast Bank account statements and records by contacting customer service. Your records will be maintained in accordance with applicable law and the Bank’s record-retention requirements.

What will happen with my account statements?

Direct access through the USBC app will end when the app closes on August 20. Please download statements you wish to keep before that date. You can request digital copies of available statements and account records after the USBC app ends by contacting customer service.

The final statement will be generated and delivered after the account has been closed and the final activity has been posted.

How do I resolve issues and errors after my account is closed?

Closing the USBC app does not eliminate any applicable rights under your Deposit Account Agreement or Regulation E. You may continue to report:

  • Unauthorized electronic fund transfers;
  • Incorrect or missing transactions;
  • Account errors; and
  • Other transaction disputes or requests for clarification.

Card-specific disputes remain subject to the applicable Cardholder Agreement. If you are uncertain whether an issue relates to your card or deposit account, please contact customer service on the contact details given below.

If you are not participating in the Vast Bank Pilot Deposit Account, your access to the USBC application will end following the transition. Certain personal information and account records may continue to be retained by USBC as required by applicable law, regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and applicable record retention policies. Information that is no longer required will be securely deleted or disposed of in accordance with those policies.

We encourage you to download any records you wish to retain, including:

  • Account statements
  • Transaction history
  • Tax documents
  • Account agreements
  • Other account-related records

Your card

If you have a USBC virtual card, it will be deactivated at 3:00 PM PT on Thursday, August 13. After deactivation, the card can no longer be used for new purchases, recurring payments, or transactions through a digital wallet.

Update recurring payments

If your  USBC virtual card is currently used to pay for any subscriptions, automatic payments, or recurring charges please  contact each merchant directly to replace or remove it. This will help you avoid missed payments, late fees, or service interruptions,

Deactivating your card may not automatically cancel your underlying subscription or payment agreement with the merchant. Any fees or service impacts imposed by a merchant will remain subject to your agreement with that merchant.

Pending transactions

Transactions authorized before your card is deactivated may remain pending and will typically settle within two to five business days, depending on the merchant and the applicable payment network.

Merchant refunds and credits

Refunds or credits related to purchases made before deactivation may still be processed after the card is deactivated. Please allow the merchant and payment network’s standard processing time. Contact customer service on the contact details given below if an expected refund or credit is not received.

Digital wallets

Any USBC virtual card added to Apple Pay, Google Pay, or another digital wallet will  stop working after deactivation. You may remove the USBC card from your digital wallet once it has been deactivated.

Transaction disputes

Regarding eligible unauthorized, incorrect, or disputed transactions after your card has been deactivated please contact customer service. Report any issue promptly and within the applicable timeframes described in your cardholder agreement and disclosures.

Transaction history and statements

Please retain copies of any transaction history, statements, or cardholder disclosures you may need for your records. Your prior transaction information will remain available through Vast Bank and may be requested by contacting customer service on the contact details given below.

Transition to the new app

Additional information regarding the transition to the new app, including any eligibility, enrollment, virtual card availability, or activation requirements, will be communicated separately. Your USBC virtual card will not remain active while the transition is completed.

Crypto and URT

I hold cryptocurrency or stablecoins in my USBC wallet. What do I need to do?

Before USBC app access ends 3:00 PM PT on Thursday, August 20, securely record your 12-word recovery phrase. From the Wallet screen, select “…” in the upper-right corner and then select Recovery Phrase.

Your recovery phrase may be used to restore access to your existing wallet through a compatible self-custody wallet application that supports the applicable blockchain network and assets. Depending on the wallet application, you may need to manually add certain networks or tokens.

Never share your recovery phrase. Vast Bank and customer service representatives will never ask you to send, email, text, read aloud, or screen-share your recovery phrase. Anyone who obtains it may be able to control the assets in your wallet.

Cryptocurrency and stablecoins are not deposits of Vast Bank, are not FDIC insured, are not guaranteed by Vast Bank or the U.S. government, and may lose value.

I hold URT. What happens to it?

URT credited to your existing wallet as of 3:00 PM PT on Thursday, August 13 will remain associated with that wallet. You will stop earning additional URT at 3:00 PM PT on Thursday, August 13.

URT operates as a cryptocurrency in a similar fashion to BTC, ETH, XRP, or SOL. Please note that your current URT wallet, which was set up for you within the USBC application, will not transition automatically to the new platform. However, you can easily oversee this URT wallet in the same manner as any other crypto asset by importing your unique 12-word recovery phrase into a cryptocurrency wallet that you prefer. To locate and export your recovery phrase, go to the Wallet screen, tap the “…” icon situated in the top-right corner, and choose the Recovery Phrase option.

After completing onboarding in the new app and receiving a new compatible URT wallet, you may transfer your existing URT balance to the new wallet, subject to network availability, supported functionality, applicable restrictions, and network fees. Transfers may not be reversible, so carefully verify the receiving address before submitting a transfer.

URT is not a deposit of Vast Bank, is not FDIC insured, is not guaranteed by Vast Bank or the U.S. government, and may lose value.

Joining our new platform

How do I get onto the new platform?

If you're a USBC pilot participant, you'll receive an invitation in the next few weeks to join the Pilot.

If you're not a pilot participant, please stay with us for the new experience by joining the invitation list at which we will make accessible shortly.

Will I get a 'vintage number'?

A vintage number shows the order in which you joined a new app. For instance, if you are the fifth person to join your Vintage Number will be 5. Everyone who joins gets a Vintage number. — as a thank-you for early support, pilot participants receive an early vintage number when they join the new app.

Will my username be reserved?

No. Usernames aren't held for you.

Will I be able to do everything in the new app that I can do in the USBC app?

Almost. In our invitation-only beta launch, the new app will not have support for other crypto currencies (BTC, ETH, XRP, SOL, USDC, USDT). You will not be able to create multiple identities or request vouches. These features and others are planned for future releases.
